Chapter 01
Medical equipment supply across the African continent
Africa is a diverse and rapidly growing medical-device market. Public-sector investment in healthcare capacity is rising in most major economies, private hospital groups are expanding, and donor and NGO programmes (Global Fund, PEPFAR, Gavi, Unitaid) are funding significant medical-device demand. The challenges are real — currency volatility, regulatory variation, fragmented in-country distribution, and after-sales service gaps — and they shape our supply strategy.
Our model is built around three principles for Africa supply: choose manufacturers with established African footprints (or build that footprint with them); structure commercial terms in stable currency; and plan after-sales service in-country from day one.
